I’ve been thinking alot about our first full year in business and it’s been quite a ride. We all know the statistics of new business survival: 50% of new businesses fail within the first year. Not only has Nest avoided the dreaded ‘F’ word, we’ve managed to thrive. And not only have we managed to thrive, we’ve done it in a real estate market that has sales off about 20% from last year.
So, here’s some quick highlights from the past 12 months (in no particular order):
– We had our first official Nest closing in November at a small cottage in beautiful Nelson County
– The Nest Realty web site officially launched in late January
– Our first group of fantastic agents joined us in February…and a few more have joined us since then. We’ve got a truly special group of true professionals who know the local real estate market and love what they do.
– In early Spring, we launched our new custom signs that featured interior pictures and the listing price on the sign.
– After a few months of bouncing around coffee shops and meetings a local pubs, we finally settled into our new digs in late Spring
– What we thought was our 2009 highlight, we were nominated as the ‘Most Innovative Brokerage or Franchise’ for the Inman News Innovator Awards.
– And finally, what was actually our 2009 highlight: we were recognized as the Most Innovative Brokerage by Inman at the SF Connect Conference on August 7th
Along the way, we’ve had some great coverage by local and national media outlets…of which we’re very proud also.
