A Drive Through Bundoran Farm

If you haven’t driven through Bundoran Farm, then put it on your schedule this summer.  It’s one of the most beautiful spots in Albemarle County.  Not only is the land naturally spectacular, but the planning by Celebration Associates (and implementation of the plan) is top notch.  I drove through last week with my trusty flip and [...]

The C-Ville has a great story this week on 25 more essential experiences for Charlottesville locals.  This is a follow up to their story from last year.

Dunlora Neighborhood versus the Deer

This is an interesting dilemma in a suburban environment : With a proposal to cull deer before their community association, some Dunlora residents are hoping they’ll be able to keep bow hunters out of the bucolic neighborhood. … “We do need to limit deer because, in addition to being a problem for people by eating landscape plants and being in the roadways, deer are impacting other species, such as birds that require low-growing plants for habitat. The best way to accomplish this would be for people to learn to live among the coyotes that have moved into Virginia now that the bigger carnivores are mostly gone,” she wrote. The Dunlora neighborhood in Charlottesville is known for being a place with trees, slightly larger lots and spacing between neighbors.

Charlottesville Single Family Homes Real Estate Market Update

2010 is trending to be a decent year in real estate…so far.  Well, maybe I should re-phrase that: it’s not any worse than 2009.  We continue to hear some troubling news regarding foreclosures and defaults on a national level (stay tuned to the Nest Report later this week), but positive signs and trends continue to [...]

As Charlottesville residents we are blessed by so much that the city and region has to offer. And occasionally, we have the opportunity to give something back. On June 5, we have that opportunity; and I for one, plan to do my part.
In 2003, my wife and I were blessed by the birth of our [...]

365 Things to Do in Charlottesville: Dogwood Festival

I’m sorry that I didn’t write this post two days ago so folks who didn’t remember – like me – could have set aside the time for the fireworks display over McIntire Park. … When you have 61 years of history of throwing a festival like the Dogwood Festival, you do much more than set off a few bottle rockets. … But, other than the fireworks, the highlight takes place all around downtown on the 24th, when the Dogwood Festival Parade travels down Market and High Streets with school bands and much much more. … Enjoy the Festival, and check back with the Nest Report frequently for more of 365 Things to Do in Charlottesville. ——— Keith Davis is an Associate Broker and a Founding Partner with Nest Realty.

Albemarle County Real Estate Inventory Levels

A few months ago, we took a closer look at inventory levels for homes throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County.  Since I’m a big believer that inventory levels are a predictor of future real estate values, I’d like to take another look…this time for single family and attached homes in Albemarle County.
As you may recall, Steve [...]
